Hypnotherapy is the name for applying transformational techniques while in a state of hypnosis. The state of hypnosis and the practice of humans using it to help and heal each other and themselves spans the globe and human history. It has shown up in many forms, used in many ways, and given many names.


There are many reasons people seek hypnotherapy: to change behaviors such as smoking or overeating; for inner conflict resolution (the I want money v. money is the root of all evil conflict is very common, for instance); to heal birth trauma (yes being born is physically and emotionally trying); to cure phobias such agoraphobia or arachnophobia;


Transformational hypnotherapy aims to create deep and lasting transformation. Many of the challenges and imbalances that clients want help with are rooted in trauma. Other challenges may be rooted in family dynamics that were not balanced and did not provide ideal environments and structures. Further, problems of thought and emotion can come from distorted beliefs, viewpoints, and assumptions that were learned from parents, other authority figures, peers, and society at large. In transformational hypnotherapy we look at and resolve trauma, unmet childhood needs, and other sources of distorted thinking that have resulted in psycho-emotional imbalances. Hypnotherapy offers a unique opportunity to heal emotional traumas by accessing the subconscious mind, where traumatic memories are often stored. For example, a person who experienced a car accident may harbor deep-seated fears and anxieties related to driving. By using hypnotherapy, the therapist can guide the individual to re-experience the accident in a safe and controlled environment. Through guided imagery, visualization, and suggestion, the traumatic emotions and associations can be gradually released, enabling the person to overcome their fear and regain confidence on the road.


Changing Behaviors: Smoking and Overeating


Hypnotherapy has been widely used to change behaviors such as smoking and overeating, where deeply ingrained habits can be challenging to overcome. By reaching the subconscious mind, hypnotherapy can address the root causes behind these behaviors and replace them with healthier alternatives.

Similarly, hypnotherapy can help individuals overcome overeating habits. By identifying and addressing the underlying emotional triggers or unhealthy patterns associated with overeating, hypnotherapy sessions can reframe beliefs around food, foster self-control, and cultivate a positive relationship with eating. Through reinforcement of healthy eating habits and the cultivation of self-awareness, hypnotherapy can assist individuals in achieving long-term weight management goals.


Resolving Inner Conflict


Inner conflicts arise when conflicting beliefs or desires create turmoil within an individual's subconscious mind. Hypnotherapy provides an effective means to resolve such conflicts by reconciling these opposing forces and aligning them towards a harmonious outcome.


For example, consider the conflict between the desire for financial security and the belief that "money is the root of all evil." Curing Phobias: Agoraphobia and Arachnophobia
